Cystic Fibrosis is no longer considered a childhood illness. A huge step on the journey to adulthood is getting a job, and it’s a step that the majority of people with CF will be able to take. This is a big change from school or university though because everything you do now impacts not just yourself, but your colleagues, and the boss.

In Episode 06 of Straight from the Lungs, we heard about the different jobs that people with Cystic Fibrosis have and how they manage their CF at work. I’m an animator and I’ve had the opportunity to work on some really exciting projects over the years. As stressful as it was, I’m very fortunate that I didn’t need to take it to court. Kate however, wasn’t so lucky.

Hospital can feel like a second home for some people with Cystic Fibrosis. We have regular check-ups that last a couple of hours, and if we’re ill it can mean staying in hospital for a couple of weeks. We have many CF teams here in the UK, each with their own specialist staff.

In Episode 07 of Straight from the Lungs, We spoke about how people with Cystic Fibrosis sometimes need to go into hospital for a couple of weeks to have IV antibiotics. I'm 24 and I've been in hospital 9 times, but I still remember my first every hospital stay 12 years ago.
